Chicago Bulls trade targets to watch on draft night: Ben Simmons
There is clearly a wish list out there for Bulls fans as to who the franchise would love to get on the trade market to be the point guard of the future. That list definitely includes stars such as Ben Simmons of the Philadelphia 76ers, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers, and Chris Paul of the Phoenix Suns.
The question of what it would cost the Bulls to get any of those three is definitely the most legitimate hurdle for Karnisovas getting a deal done here. Maybe the most realistic of those three on the trade market by draft night could be Simmons. Since this could be a good time for the Bulls to buy low on Simmons, they could get decent value out of trading for him.
Simmons is a three-time All-Star selection and two-time All-Defensive Team selection that would immediately upgrade the Bulls’ backcourt unit. Really the only question to Simmons’ game is something that remained since his rookie season, and that’s his outside shot (or lack thereof).
Everything else that the Bulls need the point guard of the future to do for this team is what Simmons brings to the table. He could help take some of the load off of LaVine to shoulder the offense in the backcourt. And he could remove a lot of the defensive liability that the Bulls get out of having a starting unit that features both LaVine and Vooch.
The Bulls would have to give up even more of the future of this team if AK is to find a way to trade for Simmons. Although, if the Bulls do trade for Simmons it would indicate that this team is all in to try and open up the title window right now. The same would hold true if the Bulls tried to trade for someone like Lillard, CP3, or Kemba Walker.
