Falling draft prospects for the Chicago Bulls to target at No. 38: Scottie Lewis

There was a point in time when the former elite five-star recruit and Florida Gators sophomore shooting guard/small forward Scottie Lewis was considered a sure-first round pick. But we’ve heard this story before where a former five-star recruit and a wing as highly touted as Lewis can’t get it done at the collegiate ranks and falls far down various big boards.

Lewis actually took a step back in multiple regards in his game statistically last season with the Gators. He turned the ball over more often, shot it worse from downtown, and was a less productive rebounder. But that doesn’t mean that Karnisovas, former Florida head coach Billy Donovan, and the Bulls won’t be able to put it all together for Lewis at the next level.

There is already a connection between the Bulls and Lewis too. The former Gator and Hazlet, NJ, native already worked out for the Bulls around the time of the 2021 NBA Draft Combine. And Lewis had an impressive showing at the combine last month, putting on display a lot of the parts of his game that made him such a touted high school prospect in the first place.

Lewis is a very gifted athlete that has a wingspan of 6-foot-10 and he registered a vertical leap of 42 inches at the combine. He is very explosive that can benefit him both on the glass and driving to the rim. His physical tools should also help him become a more effective defender in the NBA.

As a prospect with first-round level raw talent and physical tools, Lewis would be a risk with high upside for Karnisovas and the Bulls in the second round.
