Every 38th overall pick in Chicago Bulls franchise history: Jordan Bell

In the midst of a time where it seemed like the former front office regime of John Paxson and Gar Forman traded every second-round draft pick the franchise held in the 2010s, it felt like a shame that they dealt big man Jordan Bell to the Golden State Warriors. The former Oregon Ducks center Bell was the 38th overall pick of the Bulls in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Just like Duhon, Bell contributed to a decent degree for a second-round draft pick. By no means has he turned into a star in his career thus far, but he does already have one ring under his belt, and contributed in a few key playoff runs in the Bay Area.

Bell has turned into a journeyman in the past two seasons. He’s signed, and played in regular season game action, with four different teams since the start of the 2019-20 season. That now makes it the Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, Memphis Grizzlies, and Washington Wizards since the start of last season.

Since the start of his career four years ago, Bell has played in by far the most games with the Warriors (more than 125 in the regular season).

Looking back on the 2017 draft, you would have to say that Bell provided decent value at 38th overall. That value just wasn’t provided to the Bulls. But that second round in the 2017 draft was loaded, with point guard Monte Morris, guard/wing Dillon Brooks, and big man Thomas Bryant, all selected after Bell.
