Free agents for the Chicago Bulls to appease Zach LaVine: Lonzo Ball
The name that can’t stay out of free agent discussions for the Bulls just a few weeks ahead of when it all opens up this summer is the New Orleans Pelicans two-way 23-year-old point guard Lonzo Ball. If Karnisovas and the Bulls were able to lock in on Lonzo early this offseason, it would take a lot of the pressure off of the front office to fill out the rest of the rotation.
Finding that elusive solution to the point guard problem seems to be the biggest task at hand for the Bulls’ front office this summer.
Depending on what the price tag winds up being for Lonzo this summer, the Bulls should definitely at least be in on the discussions to sign him. The former second overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft of the Los Angeles Lakers is about to be one of the most high-profile restricted free agents of the offseason.
The backcourt duo of Lonzo and LaVine could be a very intriguing unit for the Bulls in the starting five heading into next season. It would likely also excite LaVine a lot as to where the direction of the franchise is headed. Going out and signing Lonzo, along with trading for Vooch at the deadline this year, would prove to LaVine that the front office is willing to support his rise to stardom.
If the Bulls were able to sign both of the first two names on this list, it could go a long way to putting this team in a spot to clearly be at least one of the four or five best teams in the Eastern Conference for the next few seasons. Lonzo especially could be a key to a successful offseason in the Windy City.
