Free agency is now just a few weeks away for the Chicago Bulls, and we’re getting set to see how the front office will take on the job of finding the right supporting cast for their star duo this summer. The Bulls are looking to find the right support pieces around the likes of star shooting guard Zach LaVine and center Nikola Vucevic to get this team closer to contender status heading into next season.
It feels like the main task that is staring the Bulls’ front office right in the face this offseason is finding the point guard of the future. And while that looming goal of the offseason is very important to get right, it’s not the only part of the summer that needs to go right for the Bulls to get better in 2021-22.
Billy Donovan and the Chicago Bulls gearing up for an impactful cycle of free agency
Getting a more resourceful rotation for head coach Billy Donovan is also an important part of this offseason for the Bulls. As it’s about time for executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley to get to work, they need to keep the goal in mind of giving Donovan the most they can to be successful next season.
The looming cycle of free agency won’t see the Bulls have too much cap space, but they are likely open with the options to build up the roster. If the right opportunity presents itself, then Karnisovas and the Bulls will likely be willing to make a trade to free up the necessary cap room.
Here’s a look into five of the more slept-on free agents that the Bulls should consider this summer that would be great for Donovan.
