With the upcoming cycle of free agency looming large in just a few weeks, and the 2021 NBA Draft set to being in less than two weeks, the Chicago Bulls‘ front office is about to be very busy in the blink of an eye. The good news is that executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley have a better idea of the roster at hand this summer than they did last fall.

The offseason timeline was crunched way down last offseason due to the weird end to the 2019-20 season in the bubble in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. But after a full season of evaluation for this roster at hand, more change is likely on the horizon in the coming weeks for the Bulls.

While some Bulls fans likely have anticipation for what lies ahead in the 2021 draft, most are excited for what’s to come in this cycle of free agency. That’s likely to be where most of the action happens for the Bulls this summer.

Former Tar Heels could be an option for the Chicago Bulls to fill out the bench alongside Coby White

The Bulls could be gearing up to try and upgrade this rotation, and also help their core expand. This team really needs a starting point guard of the future in place of the likes of Coby White and Tomas Satoransky. Karnisovas and the Bulls really don’t look interested in having either of those two as the starting point guard next season.

But White could still be in the future plans for the Bulls as a volume-scoring reserve guard. Meanwhile, Sato isn’t likely to return for the Bulls beyond next season.

The former North Carolina Tar Heels point guard White was once to be the future at the one for the Bulls. But that faded since the new front office and coaching staff were brought in last year.

White could still be an interesting part of this bench moving forward, as there are a number of Tar Heels that the Bulls could target to upgrade the rotation this summer. Here’s a look at three former Tar Heels that would be good additions to the bench along with White.
