Absurd trade targets the Chicago Bulls should avoid: Kyle Kuzma
There is a high likelihood that the Los Angeles Lakers are going to try and trade the former Utah Ute and 6-foot-10 and 220-pound 25-year-old forward Kyle Kuzma this offseason. The 27th overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft of the Brooklyn Nets Kuzma was a bit more effective for the Lakers this season.
But it didn’t look like it was enough for the superstar duo of point forward LeBron James and big man Anthony Davis to want to have Kuzma in the starting unit with them moving forward. Kuzma could also want to find himself a bigger role elsewhere after getting the first title of his career last year.
If Kuzma is to be moved this summer, it wouldn’t be all that difficult for a lot of teams to take on his current contract. His contract is manageable, as he’s paid $13 million annually through the end of the 2023-24 seasons. Considering his counting stats and shooting percentages from this season, it also is a pretty reasonable asking price for his production.
The Bulls do have the cap room for Kuzma, but locking in for three more years of his contract wouldn’t be that smart. He also would not be the greatest fit next to the likes of Vooch and LaVine. He commands too high of usage and isn’t a great defender. The Bulls would also likely have to part with some valuable asset to get Kuzma. None of that would be worth that for Karnisovas and Eversley.
