Top options for the Chicago Bulls if Lonzo Ball is no longer available: Ben Simmons

All of the talk it seems around the NBA landscape throughout July 13 was the trade speculation surrounding the Philadelphia 76ers and star point guard Ben Simmons. A lot of what Lonzo could bring to the table as the Bulls’ starting point guard is also some of the strongest parts of Simmons’ game.

Throughout the rest of the life of Simmons’ current contract, his annual salary figure might not wind up being that much higher on average than Lonzo. In terms of his fit with the Bulls’ current cap sheet, it would be manageable to work Simmons into the mix.

According to a report from Marc Stein on July 13, the Sixers are looking to actively shop Simmons this summer and there are multiple suitors already interested in seeing what it would take to land him. The Bulls were not one of the potential suitors interested in Simmons in this report from Stein, but it’s definitely not out of the question that the front office in the Windy City could be ready to call Philly.

Executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas was not shy about making the Bulls’ intentions clear that they want to put themselves in the best position possible at point guard heading into next season. That option does not look to be either White or combo guard Tomas Satoransky.

It’s hard to imagine many more impactful additions at the point guard position that the Bulls could make this summer than with Simmons. Acquiring Simmons would take a lot of assets for the Bulls, but it’s not out of the question for these trade talks to at least happen between Chicago and Philly.
