Players that the Chicago Bulls should be willing to deal in a Collin Sexton trade: Thaddeus Young

Maybe the most valuable trade chip that the Bulls have right now in terms of player assets is the veteran forward Thaddeus Young. You could argue that Young is coming off a career year, and his current contract is very team-friendly. The former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket and 33-year-old forward only has one year remaining on his current contract too.

Young is the type of player that would be more able to help a fringe playoff contender get over the hump, or get a fringe title contender over the top next season. The Cavs might not be the most ideal landing spot in most scenarios for Young, but that doesn’t shortcut the value that he could still bring to the table in trade talks with the Cavs.

The first priority for the Bulls is finding a solution at the point guard position for the future.

Finding the right landing spot for Young would be more of a secondary priority for the Bulls behind finding the right point guard for the future.

There is also the idea that the Bulls could get a third team involved in trade talks to get Sexton from the Cavs. That would be more ideal than anything for most parties involved in these hypothetical trade discussions.

The more realistic scenario for the Bulls this offseason, if they trade for point guard help from a rebuilding team like the Cavs, would be dealing out Sato. But both Sato and Young have team-friendly contracts that would offer value for most teams around the NBA.
