Players that the Chicago Bulls should be willing to deal in a Collin Sexton trade: Coby White

If the Cavs are planning on moving on from Sexton this summer, that likely means they are either attempting to get more guard help in the 2021 NBA Draft, or they have the utmost confidence in building this backcourt unit around Darius Garland. But the Cavs would still need to restore some of their guard depth if they were to deal out Sexton in the coming weeks/months.

One option for the Bulls to really sweeten the pot in any hypothetical trade discussions with the Cavs would be the former North Carolina Tar Heel and 21-year-old Coby. There is the hope that White can remain a key piece of the Bulls’ second unit moving forward. And to say that there’s never a shot for him to get back in a starting unit would be overlooking some of the potential he still brings to the table.

But the plan as it stands now for Karnisovas and the Bulls is keeping White in more of a reserve role. There are still other teams that could try and maximize his value. In this case, White might be able to serve more value to the Cavs than he does in the Bulls heading into next season.

An ideal scenario in this regard for the Cavs could be getting some key young pieces from the Bulls to help move this rebuild along in an effective manner. Getting someone like White in the mix could allow them to have a pretty switchable backcourt unit. A possibility even exists for the Cavs to run White at the two and Garland at the one.

More likely, though, would be the Cavs using White in a volume scoring guard role similar to how the Bulls utilized him down the stretch during the regular season. That’s not really something that the Cavs have in their backcourt unit right now, and would help move this group along.
