Players that the Chicago Bulls should be willing to deal in a Collin Sexton trade: Lauri Markkanen

One of the most obvious trade chips for Karnisovas and the Bulls this summer is the fourth-year power forward and impending restricted free agent Lauri Markkanen. With the Bulls looking like they will part ways with Markkanen this summer, getting some level of value from him in a sign-and-trade deal makes a lot of sense.

The ability for the Bulls to cash in on Lauri’s value while it was still pretty high during the preseason or the regular season in the past eight or 12 months is now gone. But the Bulls could still try and solve another positional need this offseason if they make the right deal to trade Markkanen.

Considering that the divisional foe Cavs are trying to move their rebuild along this offseason, that might be a very viable destination for Markkanen. The Cavs could likely get more value out of Markkanen than the Bulls at this point, and this could be the type of change of scenery he needs.

If the Bulls also need a trade chip to help move this deal along for salary matching purposes, then Markkanen becomes a very versatile piece in any discussions.

The Bulls shipping off Markkanen to the Cavs in any deal that gets them Sexton would need other pieces involved. The Cavs would not take a one-for-one player swap in this scenario. But Markkanen can be an appealing piece to help add depth to the young and budding Cavs frontcourt rotation.
