So much of the focus of the summer months for the Chicago Bulls‘ front office will boil down to how the point guard problem is solved. It seems like the Bulls’ first option to fill the point guard need this summer is to take the free agency route. That would leave the front office with options like New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball, and Spencer Dinwiddie of the Brooklyn Nets, at the top of the list.

If the Bulls did have a first-round draft pick this year, that would help to provide a big additional resource to solve this problem. But that is not the case this year since the Bulls missed on on the top four of the draft lottery, sending their pick in the first round to the Orlando Magic.

Plenty of options among free agent point guards that the Chicago Bulls should avoid

About the only option for the Bulls if they wanted to take the draft route to fill the point guard need would be trading up into the first round, which would cost them a good bit. They could have some options such as Baylor Bears point guard Davion Mitchell, Australian 6-foot-9 point guard Josh Giddey, and even Tennessee Volunteers combo guard Jaden Springer, among others.

Yet, the free agent market seems to be the best route, especially if a trade option doesn’t open up in the coming weeks. But even the free agent market will have to be a place where executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley tread lightly.

Here’s a look into three free agent point guards that the Bulls should avoid this summer at all costs.
