Free agent targets for the Chicago Bulls that are better defenders than Garrett Temple: Victor Oladipo

Recapturing the form that combo guard Victor Oladipo had found with the Indiana Pacers a couple of years ago is the main goal at hand for whatever team winds up signing him next. With Oladipo set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer with his time with the Miami Heat up for the time being, the suitors are set to start lining up for him soon.

And it will be interesting to see which teams feel they can either find a support role for Dipo moving forward or those that try to recapture some sort of the form he had as a two-time All-Star with the Pacers.

If the Bulls were to try and sign Dipo this summer, it should come with the idea that he would be more cast to the supporting role alongside LaVine and try to help with the perimeter defending.

A few key reasons do exist as to why Dipo could be a good fit with the Bulls. He is an excellent distributor of the basketball when in rhythm. Dipo can also effectively work off ball-screens and turn the corner to drive the lane in the blink of an eye when he’s at full strength.

That’s not to mention that Dipo is one of the very best defender guards in the NBA, even after all of the injuries he’s suffered in the last three years. He can fill the gaps for a lot of what LaVine and White don’t do well.

The problem with signing Dipo is clearly the cost he could come at and any future injury concerns. He would clearly benefit the Bulls on the defensive end of the floor, but the risk might not be worth the reward overall if the asking price is too great for him in this upcoming cycle of free agency.
