Olympic teammates Zach LaVine should recruit to the Chicago Bulls: Jerami Grant
Among the fastest rising stars on this United States Olympic roster that is still somehow falling under the radar is the Detroit Pistons standout forward and former Denver Nugget Jerami Grant. This season, Grant put up the type of numbers that made him worthy of All-Star consideration. It just so happened that the Pistons weren’t in a spot in the standings to put Grant in that type of spotlight.
The type of production that Grant showed off during the regular season will bring a spotlight to his game next season that could get him that elusive first career All-Star nod. That is something that LaVine set out to do this year, and he got it done. Grant is looking to take a similar path to LaVine this year with the Central Division foe Pistons.
However, there is also a chance that the Pistons look to move Grant while his value is still high. And the idea of a starting unit that features four talented players such as Grant, LaVine, Vooch, and forward Patrick Williams, is very special. The Bulls could be a viable landing spot for Grant, but LaVine would have to show some level of appeal while he has the opportunity now.
Grant had a stellar 2020-21 campaign that got him the spot on this Olympic roster. In 54 games played during the regular season, Grant averaged 22.3 points per game, 4.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.6 steals, and 1.1 blocks. And he shot 42.9 percent from the field, 35.0 percent from beyond the arc, and 84.5 percent from the free-throw line.
Pursuing Grant wouldn’t be the worst idea by any means for this Bulls’ front office. And it is something worth considering if he is made available by the Pistons in the near future.
