Olympic teammates Zach LaVine should recruit to the Chicago Bulls: Damian Lillard

It’s hard to imagine a better point guard for the Bulls to round out the starting five ahead of next season than the Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard. But the chances that executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley are able to actually get a deal done with the Trail Blazers for Lillard are slim to none.

With so much change also occurring with the Blazers this summer, just like the Celtics, there were whispers that Lillard might be available via trade. But nothing of the sort has really manifested itself in the midst of the summer months. Lillard would be a highly sought-after trade commodity were he available on the block this summer, though.

The Bulls do need help at the point guard position, and it’s hard to think that a starting unit that features a star trio of Lillard, LaVine, and center Nikola Vucevic, couldn’t contend for a title. That could bring some level of appeal to the table for both LaVine and Lillard as they’re now teammates with the United States for the Olympics.

Lillard is definitely one of the best guards for the United States, and he should hold a role in the starting five throughout this Olympic run in Tokyo. This could also be a valuable opportunity for the Bulls star LaVine to see what the interests are in Lillard coming to a bigger market team that could be a budding contender like the Bulls.
