Forwards that are better fits with the Chicago Bulls than Lauri Markkanen: Paul Millsap
If Markkanen does walk this summer, then the Bulls could have a spot in the starting unit to fill. The starter at the three or the four, depending on what happens with rookie forward Patrick Williams’s spot in the starting unit, could be someone like veteran forward Thaddeus Young. Bringing back Markkanen could be an option too.
But running something like that back that executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley aren’t confident in doesn’t seem like a wise move at all.
That’s why getting a new starter at the four that could be a nice fit alongside the likes of star center Nikola Vucevic, shooting guard Zach LaVine, and Williams, seems like the best move. And that’s why the Bulls pursuing someone like the veteran Denver Nuggets power forward Paul Millsap could be an ideal fit.
Millsap is a four-time All-Star selection that could still offer a lot of value with whatever team he plays for next. The Nuggets could very likely move on from him this summer, giving him the ability to explore the market again as an unrestricted free agent.
The floor spacing and defensive ability of Millsap gives this starting unit the capability to create more open looks for Vooch in key spots and make up for any defensive lapses he has.
