One of the staples of late night television segments is “Mean Tweets” hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. And the latest release of Mean Tweets featured a top star for the Chicago Bulls, shooting guard Zach LaVine, among other big NBA names. The Bulls 26-year-old shooting guard has more firmly hit the mainstream spotlight this year.

And this particular version of Mean Tweets really dug into the source of how the Bulls landed LaVine in the first place. The tweet that LaVine read off referred back to how the Bulls apparently made a mistake trading their former star shooting guard/small forward Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves back during the 2017 offseason.

This social media user feels that Butler should’ve stuck with the Bulls, and that this team building around LaVine could be a mistake. LaVine didn’t react too much to that part of the comment from this Twitter user, but he did to another more inappropriate part of the message.

The trade that originally landed the Bulls LaVine for Butler back in 2017 also saw power forward Lauri Markkanen and point guard Kris Dunn make their way to Chicago. It is hard to disagree that the Bulls didn’t get the best end of the deal by landing Markkanen and Dunn, but LaVine continues to take his game to new heights.

LaVine got his first career All-Star nod this year, becoming the first Bulls player to do so since Butler was in 2017. It’s hard to argue that the Bulls aren’t headed in a good direction at the moment with the core trio of LaVine, star center Nikola Vucevic, and rookie forward Patrick Williams.

Moreover, this version of Mean Tweets did also feature some very notable other names around the NBA landscape. It started off with the Hall-of-Fame center Shaquille O’Neal, and featured other big-time NBA names such as LaVar Ball, Grant Hill, and Trae Young.

LaVine and the Bulls finished up last season with a record of 31-41 under the direction of first-year head coach Billy Donovan. That resulted in the Bulls missing out on the postseason for the fourth consecutive year.
