Chicago Bulls: 3 veterans to trade Thaddeus Young for
Veterans the Chicago Bulls could get in a Thaddeus Young trade: Robert Covington
Although he’s not facing a rampant amount of trade rumors this summer, the Portland Trail Blazers switchable forward Robert Covington could be an interesting fit with the Bulls. Head coach Billy Donovan is looking to get a piece that could be more versatile and moldable to play in the starting frontcourt alongside Vooch heading into next season.
Young is a quality piece for this Bulls rotation without a doubt. And he just had one of the most productive and efficient seasons of his lengthy career in the NBA thus far. But the Bulls just didn’t seemingly have the best fit in the starting unit between either Young or Markkanen and Vooch. He was a better fit with the former Boston Celtics Daniel Theis, though.
Given how well RoCo is able to come out and space the floor for the rest of his teammates on offense, he could be a very nice fit next to the likes of Vooch and Williams. During the regular season, he averaged 8.5 points per game, 6.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.2 blocks. And he shot 40.1 percent from the field, 37.9 percent from beyond the arc, and 80.6 percent from the free-throw line.
Markkanen would be about an equivalent floor spacer that the Bulls could have at the four. And while Markkanen would bring more length to the table for the Bulls in the starting five, RoCo is a much better defender on the wing and within the two-point arc. He could also help to make up for some of the defensive lapses for Vooch at times.
