The idea was pitched last week that the Chicago Bulls could look into signing their former MVP-winning point guard Derrick Rose to fill their need at this position during the summer. D-Rose is currently a member of the New York Knicks, under former Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau. He was one of the better stories for the Knicks this season in a year full of comeback headlines.
Thibodeau wound up winning the Coach of the Year, and the Knicks were the surprise team of the Eastern Conference during the regular season. Granted the Atlanta Hawks were definitely the surprise story in the East for the postseason, coming just a few games shy of getting past the Milwaukee Bucks to get to the NBA Finals.
Better options out there for the Chicago Bulls this summer than Derrick Rose?
However, the Bulls are hoping to be similar to that of the Knicks and/or the Hawks in some ways next season. If the Bulls can make that type of leap up the standings in the East, then they will easily get over the postseason hump and end the four-year-long drought.
What the Bulls will have to do in order to easily get over that postseason hump in 2022 is land a true point guard that can help to round out the starting five this summer. The Bulls do have a plethora of options available to them. Even the idea of signing D-Rose out of free agency this summer was pitched recently by K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.
But before the Bulls consider signing a point guard like D-Rose out of free agency this offseason, who are some other options to think over first for this front office?
