Criminally underrated teammates of Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan: Scott Burrell

Although both were severely underrated Jordan teammates with the Bulls at one time or another, Buechler and the Connecticut native 6-foot-7 and 220-pound shooting guard/small forward Scott Burrell had much different paths during their respective NBA careers. Buechler was an ultra-consistent, but never starting caliber, wing in his NBA career which spanned a double-digit number of years.

Another difference between Buechler and Burrell was the amount of time that each spent with the Bulls. Buechler spent four seasons with the Bulls in the mid-to-late 1990s, while Burrell only spent one in Jordan’s final year with the team.

Burrell had a quick peek and a quick fall during his playing days in the NBA. But when Burrell was producing at a high level, he was one of the best parts of the supporting cast for Jordan during the dynasty years with the Bulls in the 1990s. That is highlighted by the career-best 2.5 box plus/minus and 1.3 value over replacement player rating that Burrell posted during the 1997-98 regular season.

Becoming a model of consistency in limited appearances in the playoffs too was a notable storyline for Burrell. He registered a 1.8 box plus/minus and .142 win shares per 48 minutes in 23 playoff appearances between his days with the Bulls and Charlotte Hornets.
