Former Tar Heels teammates Chicago Bulls’ great Michael Jordan had in the NBA: Jerry Stackhouse

Maybe the most high-profile former Tar Heels star that Jordan ever played with in his NBA career was the two-time All-Star selection and 6-foot-6 and 220-pound shooting guard/wing Jerry Stackhouse. The third overall pick of the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round in the 1995 NBA Draft Stackhouse had a long and successful career in this league.

But Stackhouse only played two seasons with the Sixers before he was dealt to the Detroit Pistons in the late 1990s. He played more regular season games with the Pistons, though than any other team in his NBA career. Stackhouse would also play for the Mavericks, New Jersey Nets, and Atlanta Hawks, among other teams in his career.

The time where Stackhouse was a teammate of Jordan’s was during the 2002-03 season with the Wizards. Stackhouse was a teammate of Jordan’s during his final season playing in the NBA. At the time, Stackhouse was in the prime years of his career. Stackhouse and Jordan were two of the most productive guards for the Wizards during that 2002-03 campaign.

In his one season playing with Jordan and the Wizards, Stackhouse averaged 21.5 points per game, 3.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.4 blocks. And he shot 40.9 percent from the field, 29.0 percent from beyond the arc, and 87.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Stackhouse was a good teammate of Jordan’s for one season in the nation’s capital. He is also one of the better Tar Heels guards/wings in the last three decades.
