Chicago Bulls: Re-grading last offseason’s roster additions
Since the Chicago Bulls underwent a near-complete change organizationally last offseason, significant roster changes were expected out of the gates. But that’s not what happened last fall as the Bulls looked to fit the mold of the new front office and first-year head coach Billy Donovan. The change that everyone was really waiting for took effect at the trade deadline back on March 25.
The Bulls hired executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley to serve as the lead voices in the front office. But given that the Bulls management hired Karnisovas and Eversley in place of John Paxson and Gar Forman in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in spring of 2020, they didn’t have ample time to evaluate the talent on hand in any effective manner.
A busier offseason on the way for the Chicago Bulls in 2021 compared to 2020
That actually led to a rather quiet offseason last fall for the Bulls. Combined with a weaker free agent class and a shortened offseason timeline by a good bit, it seemed like it was best suited for the Bulls to stand pat and not take any huge risks last fall.
This is likely to be a different storyline this summer, though. The Bulls made sizable moves at the trade deadline this year to start shifting the construction of this roster. And more changes are likely to be on the way.
But how did the changes that the Bulls front office made last offseason stack up after one full regular season to work off of? Here’s a look back at a re-grading of the Bulls roster additions from last offseason entering this summer.
