Chicago Bulls point guard targets that are bigger stars than Lonzo Ball: Ben Simmons
The talk of the town for a good while for any team that needed help at the point guard position this summer was the idea of trading for the Philadelphia 76ers two-way star Ben Simmons. Following a tough end to the playoffs for the top-seeded Sixers in the Eastern Conference, the trade rumblings started to kick into high gear in various fan and media circle.
The idea that the Sixers could dish out Simmons this summer still seemingly looms large over an organization that looks like it would rather build around star center Joel Embiid. At this point, it feels like Embiid is the option that could take the Sixers further than Simmons. Given the limitations to Simmons’ game as a 6-foot-10 and 240-pound point guard with no outside shot, that makes sense.
But there are parts to Simmons’ game that makes him appear to be a good fit with the Bulls starting unit. He would add some clear valuable size and perimeter defending strength for the Bulls alongside LaVine. Simmons would also be able to facilitate the offense and distribute the ball more effectively at times than LaVine.
The problem with trying to get Simmons from the Sixers is the cost that it could come at. The Bulls don’t have that many expendable assets at this point, so if the Sixers aren’t willing to part ways with him for cheap then it might not be much of a possibility. But if the Sixers are willing to sell low on Simmons, then something could happen here.
