NBA Mock Draft 1.0: Warriors get NBA ready contributors, Bulls select familiar face
NBA Mock Draft 1.0
Virginia forward Trey Murphy III gets selected by the Nuggets at pick number 26 in our NBA Mock Draft 1.0, adding to their already well-rounded team. The big combo forward can shoot the ball from all areas of the court and slots in perfectly as a role player alongside the Nuggets core pieces.
He won’t be rushed into the rotation but is more than capable of earning himself a role sooner rather than later.
The Nets follow in the footsteps of the Clippers a few picks ago by feeling incredibly fortunate to see their new point guard drop right into their laps. For the Nets it is Jaden Springer out of Tennesee.
Springer is ready right now to play NBA minutes and the Nets are the perfect place for him to be utilized early in his career while also developing. He is a good defender right out of the gates and the Nets would have to love seeing him drop all the way down to them at 27.
Yet another guard selection that the team picking absolutely loves how the board fell to them. This time it’s the 76ers adding Jared Butler out of Baylor.
Butler would be long gone by now if it weren’t for medical concerns that have emerged regarding a potential heart issue. Still, it’s a risk worth taking for a team like the 6ers that can afford to miss at the end of the day.
Obviously, all our best wishes are with Butler and we hope this doesn’t impact him or his career long term.
The Suns add some much-needed depth behind big man DeAndre Ayton by selecting Sharpe out of North Carolina. he has a lot of interesting skills and capabilities on the floor but played a limited role in college and leaves too much to the imagination to be taken much higher than towards the end of round one.
Sharpe started just four of the 29 college games he played and averaged 19.2 minutes per game.
With the 30th and final pick of the opening round, the Jazz snag a guard that can play immediately and brings versatility to who he can play alongside. Dosunmu proved he is a big-time player last year for the Illini and he should be ready to go from day one.
This offers insurance in case Mike Conley leaves the team in free agency but also just provides significant depth if Conley happens to return.
