The Chicago Bulls front office is prepping for the upcoming crucial offseason while the NBA Conference Finals are being played. The goal is obviously to build toward the Bulls being a part of the Conference Finals instead of being at home watching in the coming year
Easier said than done. The Bulls feature an extremely talented duo in Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic but most of the surrounding pieces are questionable in one way or another.
Not questionable as individual players, necessarily. Instead, there are fair questions to be asked regarding almost every other Bulls player in terms of how well they fit alongside LaVine and Vooch as complementary pieces.
To be clear, the one-two-punch of LaVine and Vooch has yet to prove anything. It’s not unreasonable to start the questions with them. I elect not to because of the belief that two players of their caliber can be the centerpieces of a legitimate threat in the Eastern Conference.
Would they need a break or two? Yes, most likely. The Brooklyn Nets showed us any team can be weakened at the perfect time and allow someone else to make a run, though.
Given the offensive talents of the Bulls two all-stars, the roster likely needs to be more defensive-oriented in order to find the perfect balance for success. LaVine and Vucevic can carry the load offensively if needed, scoring is not going to be the issue.
Determining how to surround them and doing it successfully is atop the Bulls’ biggest questions entering the 2021 NBA offseason. That’s because if done correctly, the sky is the limit.
The perfect supporting cast is not easy to assemble. Arturas Karnisovas and his staff could find value signings by looking first at the final four teams standing in the NBA Playoffs.
There are some veteran players on each of the final four teams that are set to hit free agency this offseason and could be perfect fits for the Bulls. Here we’re bringing the best potential target from each remaining team.
