Chicago Bulls forward Thaddeus Young bounced back in a strong way in year number two with the organization. After struggling under former Bulls head coach Jim Boylen, Young completely turned things around in Billy Donovan’s first year leading the team.

The veteran forward was utilized correctly under Donovan and it didn’t take long for teams around the league to notice his increased production. Young became a popular name in trade rumors for contending teams looking to add that potential x-factor.

At 33 years old he proved he still has a lot left in the tank and that Is why teams will inevitably reach out regarding his status once again this off-season. He is the perfect player for contending rosters due to his versatility and ability to make an impact in a number of ways.

Young is a great complementary player that can do it all. He brings value on both ends of the floor and will be on the final year of his current contract next season. Not only does that make him easier to trade it also increases the number of teams that could look to add him.

While the Bulls opted against seriously considering any offers at the trade deadline this past season, things could be different once the off-season rolls around. Not because Young isn’t of value to their team but because of the number of things they need to add.

Young is certainly a player that would be great to keep around next season. There is a good chance he is around next season because of the value he brings.

The Bulls would be wise to see what kind of package teams are offering for the veteran forward though, even if they are unlikely to move him. The right deal could come along because of the multiple holes it fills on the roster.

A deal could give them more financial flexibility to sign players they covet, as well. Most likely it would take a combination of both of those things for the Bulls to pull the trigger. Still, it’s something that can’t be ruled out right now.

The Bulls have limited resources to make significant improvements and that means they need to have an open mind regarding players not named Zach LaVine, Nikola Vucevic or Patrick Williams.

These teams should have interest in Young and might have the assets needed to make the Bulls pull the trigger.
