Chicago Bulls trades to get a 2021 first-round pick

Just like the trade deal hypothetically with the Thunder to get Kemba’s large contract on the books, this player swap and addition of draft capital for the Bulls largely hinges on the other’s teams willingness to pull this off. The Bulls could have a nice deal in store, and so could the Memphis Grizzlies, depending on how the other party values second-year point guard Coby White.

The Bulls do need to figure out their problem at the point guard positions sooner rather than later. And following the draft lottery, it feels even more likely that the Bulls will turn to free agency to find their answer at this spot. But building out the supporting cast around their top trio of Williams, LaVine, and Vooch could be helped out by this trade deal.

Here, the Bulls ship off Sato, their second-round draft pick, and White to the Grizzlies for the return of the 17th overall pick in the 2021 draft, underrated shooting guard John Konchar, and former Duke Blue Devils small forward Justise Winslow. This would give Karnisovas, Donovan, and the Bulls some underrated and underutilized weapons to come off the bench.

And the Bulls would be able to get close to getting back into the lottery that is so deep with talent. If there is a target in the sights of Karnisovas and the Bulls just after this draft lottery, then a move with the Grizzlies would make a lot of sense. And there’s a lot of ways to get a deal done with the Grizzlies given the needs of both teams.
