Former superstars the Chicago Bulls could sign: Blake Griffin

At this point of his career, the Brooklyn Nets veteran power forward Blake Griffin looks to have remodeled his game. Coming off some injury-plagued years as a member of the Detroit Pistons, it was hard to tell what version of Griffin was going to show up with the Nets down the stretch.

Griffin was good for the Pistons in the first season and a half about that he played in the Motor City. But one season-ending injury was all it took to completely derail the superstar career of Griffin after landing with the Pistons.

And part of the Pistons buying out Griffin, with the Nets subsequently signing him, was the drop in the value of his contract. Griffin was set to be due a max contract level amount of money for his annual salary through the end of next season before getting bought out by the Pistons. Now, Griffin is set to actually be a valued free agent this summer.

That is if the Nets and Griffin don’t want to run it back at least one more time.

Griffin and the Nets were knocked out by Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks in a seven-game series on the night of June 19. That was a disappointing end to what looked to be a promising season with title possibilities.

This offseason, Griffin could be looking at a contract that could pay him north of $10-$12 million. The determining factor to whether a team like the Bulls could sign Griffin is the level of suitors he does have in free agency. If he slips under the radar, then the Bulls could stand a chance in signing him given their cap room.
