Chicago Bulls free agents they must avoid this summer: Spencer Dinwiddie

Coming off a serious injury, Dinwiddie has the option to either opt-out of his contract or run it back on a loaded Nets team and move his focus to 2022 NBA free agency. If he does hit the open market, he will inevitably be linked to the Bulls because he plays an area of need.

Although he is a point guard, like Conley he doesn’t move the needle for the team. His skill set isn’t needed on this roster ahead of priorities that absolutely must be addressed, such as defense and rim protection.

During the 2019-20 NBA season, Dinwiddie averaged 20.6 points and 6.8 assists per game for the Nets. He is a Chicago Bunice scoring guard that uses his size to both score and distribute for his team.

Dinwiddie is a much more impactful player the more he has the ball in his hands and his outside shooting is not consistent enough to bring him in only to possess the ball less than he has in years past. The backcourt already will feature LaVine, who will obviously be the number one on offense.

Additionally, the presence of Coby White just crowds things far too much for players best off with the ball in their hands offensively. Not to mention any other Bulls that can be featured on offense like Vooch.

Last on Dinwiddie, if you’re not yet sold on the fact that the Bulls should stay away. The injury issue is not something the Bulls need to mess around with for such limited upside.
