Chicago Bulls Draft Big Board – No. 1: Cade Cunningham
Finally, the consensus number one prospect in this year’s class also sits atop the Bulls draft board. Cunningham has all the tools to be a special player at the next level and is going to make an impact from day one on an NBA roster.
This pick might be the selection that would be hardest to move in a trade package if the Bulls did land one of the top four selections. That’s how good Cunningham is.
At Oklahoma State he proved capable of doing it all. He’s six-foot-eight but possesses very good playmaking ability and projects as a point-forward type player in the NBA. That would be a pretty fun skill set to match up with the current Bulls roster.
Cunningham averaged 20.1 points, 3.5 assists and 6.2 rebounds per game in college. He can shoot the ball very well, proven by his 40 percent accuracy on 5.7 attempts per game. His knock would be a seemingly lack of confidence in his game at times but that is something the Bulls, or any team for that matter, should be overly worried about.
It’s only a matter of time before he realizes how good he is and removes any confidence issues. Cunningham would be a great fit right off the bat. More importantly, he has all the makings of someone who will develop into a franchise-changing player.
It would take a lot of luck for the Bulls to have any of these picks, let alone the first overall pick. Still, there is a chance. That’s why Bulls fans can hold out hope that their team walks away from the NBA Draft with their next franchise-altering player.
