Chicago Bulls Draft Big Board – No. 2: Jalen Suggs

Gonzaga guard Jalen Suggs ranks ahead of Mobley because of how close they are in terms of what they can become in the league at their respective positions and the fact that Suggs would fit the team like a glove from day one.

He enters the league as one of the drafts’ best playmakers and has the kind of vision most players don’t yet have at such a young age. He attacks the basket with a purpose while also maintaining a path to find the open man if the defense collapses.

He oftentimes is able to make them collapse and when they don’t he has no problem finishing at the basket. With Gonzaga, he displayed he plays a winning brand of basketball and it is easy to see how he would quickly give the Bulls a new hope for the future of their point guard position.

Suggs is also a strong defender already as he enters the NBA. His athleticism and effort on that end make him an instant upgrade to not just the position but to the teams’ defense. That is a huge priority for the Bulls to find alongside LaVine and Vooch.

He loves living in passing lanes and when he does he turns it into transition opportunities. Him and LaVine running in the open court would be a site to see.

Where Suggs is going to need to improve early is with his shot. It isn’t terrible and there’s no reason to think it won’t improve but he was too inconsistent from the outside at Gonzaga. Luckily for him and the Bulls he would be able to play alongside great scorers that can give him a lot of room to attack the rim while he improves his shooting.
