Former Chicago Bulls point guards to bring back this summer: Spencer Dinwiddie

What would honestly be the favorite former Bulls point guard to sign as the next starter for this lineup is the Brooklyn Nets currently injured standout 6-foot-5 and 215-pound 28-year-old Spencer Dinwiddie. It might not count to some that Dinwiddie was a member of the Bulls for a short span of time during the 2016 offseason, but it is worth noting how valuable he could be to the team now.

There was really a point where the Nets were making a name for themselves in terms of developing standout undervalued point guards. Prior to Dinwiddie contending for an All-Star nod as the starting point guard last year for the Nets, D’Angelo Russell of the Minnesota Timberwolves was leading the way.

But Dinwiddie looks like he could be on his way out of Brooklyn before too long. And while he wasn’t a Bull for all that long, it might be wise for this front office to bring him back for the first time in nearly four years. The Bulls did have Dinwiddie on the Training Camp roster at one point, prior to the start of the 2016-17 regular season.

Dinwiddie is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer if he opts out of the final year of his current contract. Even if he does exercise his player option this offseason, he might want out of Brooklyn. And he could be a decent trade chip for the Nets to get some assets in return. Since either signing or trading for Dinwiddie could make sense given the Bulls’ rotational needs, it would be nice to see this option considered by the front office.
