Former All-Stars the Chicago Bulls could sign: Mike Conley
Another veteran All-Star point guard that could make sense for the Bulls to sign, but just for the right price, is the Utah Jazz 33-year-old Fayetteville, AR, native Mike Conley. This former Memphis Grizzlies standout is actually playing some of the best basketball of his career just at a time where it looked like he had one of the worst contracts in the NBA.
That lengthy max contract that Conley signed with the Grizzlies back in the mid-2010s is about to come to an end, though. Conley’s current contract will run up once the Jazz are ousted from the postseason. And if there’s a way that the Jazz want to re-sign him this offseason, then that is certainly a possibility that is likely to be at the top of the list for Conley.
Yet, the possibility also exists that Conley will want a change of scenery. A spot where he could get into the postseason again while having a positive impact on a younger team is with the Bulls. Depending on what type of annual salary he will want on his next contract, this should be an appealing idea for the Bulls.
Since the Bulls aren’t likely to have more than $15 million straight up to work with in free agency, they would likely have to find a place to dump the salary of players like Sato and veteran forwards Al-Farouq Aminu and Thaddeus Young. But signing Conley would surely give the Bulls a very nice starting unit that could put them in the spot to be one of the four or five best teams in the Eastern Conference right out of the gates next season.
