Former All-Stars the Chicago Bulls could sign: Kyle Lowry

Among the more appealing former All-Stars that the Bulls could find in free agency this summer is the former Toronto Raptors star point guard and the 35-year-old veteran Kyle Lowry. Although he didn’t get another All-Star nod this year, Lowry could still offer a lot of value to a team looking for a solution at the point guard position like Chicago.

The Bulls could get a lot of benefit out of signing Lowry, but this might not be the most viable landing spot for the longtime Raptors star. If he leaves Toronto, Lowry might want the opportunity to help a team contend for a ring one more time. He has one NBA Championship in his career to date, which came while playing alongside superstar forward Kawhi Leonard in Toronto.

However, the Bulls could offer Lowry the opportunity to elevate a team and the be the final piece to get them over the postseason hump.

And Lowry wouldn’t be much of an upgrade defensively compared to what the Bulls get out of combo guard Tomas Satoransky (posted a negative defensive box plus/minus this season). He also would have to see at least a bit of a dip in his usage rate while playing alongside LaVine.

The fact of the matter is that the cost that Lowry would have for the Bulls would make the biggest difference of how the front office would perceive the idea of signing him. If Lowry could fit into the low-to-mid teens in terms of the eight figures for his next annual salary figure, then something might be able to work out in this regard.

While that is not too likely, Lowry would be a better free agent signing to fill the point guard need than someone like Dipo.
