Realistic Celtics trade targets for the Chicago Bulls: Robert Williams

In the sense of positional need, the former Texas A&M Aggies big man Robert Williams wouldn’t quite be the fit the Bulls are seeking out this summer. Karnisovas and Eversley already parted ways with the former Arkansas Razorbacks center Daniel Gafford at the trade deadline back on March 25. Hence, getting another young big man back in a trade with a similar skill set could be confusing for the direction of this frontcourt unit.

The problem that the Bulls might face this offseason, though, is a lack of frontcourt depth depending on what plays out with some of the impending free agent big men. Big men such as Daniel Theis and Lauri Markkanen are impending free agents this summer. And it doesn’t look like both of them will be returning heading into next season.

Williams would be an affordable trade target for the Bulls that could add that gritty dynamic back to the frontcourt rotation that they lost when they traded Gafford to the Washington Wizards on deadline day. He also had a role that steadily grew with the Celtics once Theis was dealt to the Bulls at the deadline, and he played well for the most part.

Any player that brings a career block percentage roughly at 10 and a total rebounding percentage around 19 is someone that could make a big impact down low on the defensive end. Williams also just had the best season of his career on the offensive glass.

If the Bulls need to add some value depth back to the frontcourt rotation this summer, then Williams might be an affordable way to do so.
