Chicago Bulls players with a bright future to be excited about: Troy Brown Jr.

There are two players that the Bulls landed at the trade deadline that could have a pretty bright future ahead in various roles with the team. The Bulls got the likes of shooting guard Javonte Green from the Boston Celtics that could contribute greatly on the defensive end. And they also got shooting guard/small forward Troy Brown Jr. from the Washington Wizards, in an underrated move back on March 25.

Brown Jr. was an acquisition for the Bulls that was lauded right away, given that he changed the face of the Bulls rotation. But he didn’t get to contribute much out of the gates for the Bulls, largely thanks to injury issues. A young player still trying to find his way in Brown Jr. only got to play in 13 games for the Bulls in the regular season post-trade deadline.

There were plusses that showed through for Brown Jr. in his game this season, including his field goal shooting, defensive ability, and the ability to create off-the-dribble and driving the lane. Brown Jr. is very athletic and gifted, which he could be able to utilize well on the wing on both ends of the floor for head coach Billy Donovan.

At 6-foot-6 and 215 pounds and just 21 years of age, the former Oregon Ducks wing Brown Jr. still has a lot of growth left in his game. His shooting from deep has shown signs of life in the past two seasons, and a lot of the advanced metrics show a slight spark in Brown Jr.’s game after landing in Chicago post-deadline.

Brown Jr. posted a true shooting percentage north of 61, win shares per 48 minutes above .100, and an improving player efficiency rating. He could be able to continue to improve his game heading into next season, also with one year remaining on his rookie contract.
