In a long offseason where Chicago Bulls fans have a lot of attention on how the front office will build around their budding newfound core and star duo of shooting guard Zach LaVine and center Nikola Vucevic, there’s still some valid reminiscing to do. While Bulls fans likely won’t reminisce on the “good ole days’ of those great dynasty teams of the 1990s as much this offseason as they did last, we can still think about what the better years were like.
Last offseason (at least for the Bulls during the COVID-19 pandemic), ESPN/ABC/Netflix released the hit 10-part documentary series “The Last Dance”. That docuseries spotlighted the title-winning 1997-98 Bulls team and the life and career of the all-time great shooting guard Michael Jordan.
Former Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan still could have an impact on how the roster is formed
The Bulls were clearly at their best when Jordan was leading the way for all of those great dynasty teams of the 1990s. But this is something that the new front office and budding roster with the Bulls can learn from this summer. The Bulls need a bigger postseason push to get this fan base back engaged to the point they were at during the years of Derrick Rose and also Jordan/Scottie Pippen starring in Chicago.
Reaching that height is what executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley are trying to do for the Bulls this summer.
But Jordan is also busy himself trying to build up his own team. Jordan is the majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets, a team that is also looking to climb up the Eastern Conference standings with a young roster next season. Having is opinion felt with the Hornets is something that Jordan has done in the past, along with other stars around the NBA landscape.
That is usually necessary for any owners that want influence on the construction of their roster. It’s hard to ignore any voice that Jordan has within his own organization too.
With that in mind, here’s a look at three current NBA players that the former Bulls GOAT MJ has praised since his playing days in the league ended.
