Realistic star trade targets for the Chicago Bulls this summer: Kemba Walker
Within the past few days, the drama surrounding the Boston Celtics has hit a boiling point. And that could eventually result in the Celtics dealing out one of the bigger pieces on their current roster. The one part of the Celtics roster that might be the most appealing to a positional need for the Bulls is the veteran star point guard Kemba Walker.
The former UConn Husky and Charlotte Hornet Walker didn’t have the most inspiring run with the Celtics under the newly promoted Brad Stevens thus far. And his time in Boston might be coming to an end soon. With the Celtics front office undergoing a pretty massive shift at the moment, Kemba’s contract could be one of the first off of the books.
That could play to the Bulls’ benefit when it’s all said and done too. If nothing else, the Bulls should at least seek out what the cost would be for them to get Kemba as their starting point guard to form a true big three next to LaVine and Vooch. He would put the Bulls in the thick of the contenders in the Eastern Conference right away if they were able to get Kemba.
The contract that Kemba is currently on that is worth north of $35 million annually through the end of the 2022-23 season isn’t all too bad, but it is one that the Bulls front office would have to get creative with to make it work. The Bulls should look into this solution for their point guard problem, as Kemba would be the most viable solution to a positional need this offseason.
