Realistic star trade targets for the Chicago Bulls this summer: Domantas Sabonis

Another potential big man that could be on the move this summer is the Indiana Pacers star power forward/center and former Gonzaga Bulldog Domantas Sabonis. The 6-foot-11 and 240-pound Sabonis got his second career All-Star nod this year, and deservedly so. He was the most effective Pacers player throughout most of the regular season.

Yet, the question still remains whether both former Texas Longhorns center Myles Turner and Sabonis can co-exist in the same frontcourt rotation. And with the Pacers now-former head coach Nate Bjorkgren on his way out after just one season at the helm, more change could be on the way for their roster in the summer.

While Sabonis has a contract that does carry through the end of the 2023-24 season, the annual salary comes at roughly half the cost of that of Kristaps. Sabonis is paid around just $18-$19 million annually through the summer of 2024. That is pretty affordable given that he’s a star-caliber big man for whatever team he plays for heading into next season.

Sabonis and Vooch might clash in the Bulls frontcourt, but this could be an idea worth considering for Karnisovas and Eversley. That is for the Bulls front office to figure out if these two would fit nicely together. The possibility does exist, though, for Sabonis to play at the four and Vooch play at the five. Sabonis played a little more than half his minutes at the four in the past two seasons.
