Trades for Tomas Satoransky if the Chicago Bulls sign Lonzo Ball
Definitely, one of the contracts that Karnisovas and the Bulls likely would want to get off the books more so than any other this summer would be that of Aminu’s $10 million roughly. It looks like Aminu will exercise his player option this summer and still be on the books for the Bulls throughout next season. That is maybe until the Bulls want to buy him out next season.
Moreover, a team that is likely to have even more contracts that they would want to move in the coming year than the Bulls is the Sacramento Kings out in the Western Conference. Two of the Kings’ most expensive contracts that they would likely be willing to part ways with this summer are those of forward Harrison Barnes and shooting guard Buddy Hield.
Barnes might be the more appealing of those two for the Bulls since he might be able to take on a sixth man role, or start at the three or the four alongside rookie forward Patrick Williams. Or, if the Bulls were able to exchange the likes of Aminu, Sato, and Markkanen to the Kings for a return of big man Marvin Bagley and Barnes, they could have a lot of switchability at the four.
If this hypothetical trade scenario were to play out, it would likely be better for the Bulls right away to have Bagley start at the four next to star center Nikola Vucevic, and then place Williams at the three. That would give the Bulls the option to put the likes of veteran forward Thaddeus Young, Coby, or Barnes in the sixth man role coming off the bench.
Bagley does have one year left on his current contract, and Barnes has two. The annual salary of Barnes, north of $22 million on average, is a lot to weigh down the books, but Bagley would be a nice addition to the mix.
