Figuring out the point guard situation is something that is at the top of the list in all likelihood for the Chicago Bulls front office this summer. Executive VP of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley don’t really have one simple solution to this problem either. It sounds nice for the Bulls to just be able to simply sign the New Orleans Pelicans 6-foot-6 point guard Lonzo Ball in restricted free agency this offseason. But it likely won’t be that easy.

It’s very likely that the Bulls would have to fight off a plethora of other suitors to sign Lonzo’s offer sheet straight up this summer. And while Lonzo is probably at the top of AK’s list among point guard targets this summer, the front office might have to get creative with a few other fixed at the position.

Harsh reality of the Chicago Bulls pursuing Lonzo Ball with Coby White and Tomas Satoransky still around

Even in terms of the pursuit of Lonzo this summer, the Bulls might want to take to the route of pulling off a sign-and-trade deal to ensure they’re able to get their guy.

The sign-and-trade market is sure to be interesting for the Bulls this summer as they have a notable player entering restricted free agency themselves. Fourth-year power forward Lauri Markkanen is an impending restricted free agent this offseason.

Moreover, if the Bulls were to take to the path of forging a sign-and-trade deal to get Lonzo, it would likely mean parting ways with either combo guard Tomas Satoransky or point guard Coby White. But the Bulls would likely want to let go of Sato before White in any trade deal this summer.

Here’s a look into three trades for Sato if the Bulls were to be able to sign Lonzo this summer.
