Chicago Bulls Free Agency Needs: Point Guard

The Bulls need for another point guard might sound odd when factoring in they have two under contract already for next season. Those two were both significant contributors in the rotation as well.

Coby White and Tomas Satoransky aren’t the point guards this team needs, though. While either one is fine and even a good fit with the roster, that is only true if they share those responsibilities with a more traditional point guard.

White is young and still has more upside than many fans give him but it is important people understand he is a scoring guard more than a point guard. That will always be true even if he takes the steps to become a better point guard from a general sense. An important step in improving will be studying the games of more experienced point guards in the NBA playoffs.

While he could be moved, it feels more likely Sato would be and a new point guard brought in to start while White takes on a lead guard role off the bench. Not only could that help his long-term development but it could also make the bench stronger while also making the starting unit a better group.

The Bulls need to bring in a guard that can defend and make plays for their teammates. Not someone capable of playmaking but someone who naturally looks to set others up. It would be a huge asset to insert that kind of point guard in lineups featuring great scorers like the Bulls Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic.
