Chicago Bulls: 3 things that must be addressed in free agency
Chicago Bulls President of Basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas is going to be a very busy man once the off-season rolls around. Not only has he made it clear losing will not be acceptable with him in charge but the trades he has already made before the deadline only mean the team needs to get better even quicker.
In order to take steps from where they finished the 2020-21 season to where they want to get moving forward, they will have to have a well-drawn-up plan and then execute it. Things don’t have to be flawless if built right because of the top-end talent the franchise has in Nikola Vucevic and Zach LaVine.
It’s just as much about fitting the right pieces around those two as it is adding another all-star caliber player. That’s even more true when you take a realistic approach to what, if any, players of that caliber will truly explore their options this off-season.
The Bulls still need to rise up to a respectable level before they can truly give their best pitches to free agents. It’s tough to see many stars desiring the bulls as things stand today but that could change over the course of the upcoming few years.
For now, the plan must be drawn up for what the Chicago Bulls 100 percent need to address in free agency, and then they can build from there. Everything starts somewhere and in this process, step number one is knowing what you’re looking to add.
There’s potential for a lot of roster turnover this off-season, which is not necessarily a bad thing by any means. Factoring in they are likely to only have one pick in the draft this year, and it being in the second round, free agency is where they need to do a big chunk of their roster strengthening.
