Chicago Bulls: 4 players that hurt their contract value in 20-21
Chicago Bulls players who hurt their contract value in 20-21: Troy Brown Jr.
One of the big players that the Bulls landed at the trade deadline that looked like he could be a big part of the backcourt/wing rotation over the long haul is the former Wizards shooting guard/small forward Troy Brown Jr. There’s a lot of value that Brown Jr. can offer the Bulls if his two-way ability continues to shine through.
But the inconsistencies and occasional injury issues are something that could limit the potential role that Brown Jr. holds with any team moving forward. Of all of the players on this list, Brown Jr. could most easily turn his game around, and thus make sure that his value on the next contract he gets goes up.
Brown Jr. is a former mid-first-round pick of the Wizards from the 2018 draft as a former Oregon Ducks wing. But in his three seasons in his NBA career to date, the best box plus/minus rating he’s ever registered sits at a subpar -1.3 And the best player efficiency rating of his career sits at 13.7. Of course, neither of those is above the league average.
As he’s likely to hold a role on the second unit with the Bulls next season, Brown Jr. could see his stock finally trend up in a more stable rotation. Next season will also be the final on his rookie contract. So being in the midst of a contract year could give Brown Jr. the chip on his shoulder that he needs to take his game to the next level.
