Chicago Bulls that Finished the Season Strong: Coby White
Finally, the easiest and most obvious answer comes in at the top spot. Coby White finished the season in extremely strong fashion and offered a glimpse into the player he could become moving forward.
Despite a roller-coaster season for much of the 2020-21 campaign, White overcame the adversity in strong fashion. May was his strongest scoring month of the season at 16.7 points per game.
Additionally, it was the only month of the season that he shot over 40 percent from behind the arc. White connected on 41.3 percent of his 8.9 attempts per game in his final nine contests.
That was good for his highest volume per game over the course of any month of the season, as well. White also continued pitching in everywhere else and seemed to find comfort playing alongside LaVine that had not existed in their time together before the end of this season.
Most importantly, White looked confident and played well in orchestrating the offense. While his assist numbers don’t and won’t jump out at you, they don’t need to on this Bulls team.
The team has a plethora of good playmakers, so White needs to understand that and focus on getting players the ball in the right spot. From there, it can be playmaking by committee more than anything else.
The strong finish to the season from White is the biggest reason fans should be excited moving forward, at least in terms of when viewing on-court production. If he takes a step this off-season in addition to the steps he took this year, White can be a key part of the Bulls franchise turning around.
