Free agents the Chicago Bulls can add to support Zach LaVine: Lonzo Ball

Any number of Bulls fans out there should be fans of the idea of executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley making the move to sign the New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball. This 6-foot-6 and 190 pound 23-year-old former UCLA Bruins floor general is having another solid season as he continues to grow his game.

An improvement that a lot of NBA fans never thought Ball would make shined through in the past two years, with his shooting from deep continuing to remain solid. During the regular season, he shot 37.8 percent from beyond the arc, which was an improved mark from deep for the second straight year.

Ball also continues to remain a premier defender that is almost always a net positive presence on the perimeter. He’s registered a defensive box plus/minus rating well in the positive in the three years since his rookie season. The value over replacement player rating he posted with the Pels during the regular season also sat at a career-best 1.6.

The value that Ball continues to bring to the table year in and year out on both ends of the floor is improving at a high rate. His game offers value to the Bulls starting unit in ways that neither second-year point guard Coby White nor combo guard Tomas Satoransky could for this team moving forward.
