This is another obvious choice for how the Bulls starting five will look under Donovan’s direction next season. The Bulls would be making a mistake not to start the former Orlando Magic two-time All-Star center Vooch at the five next season. They invested a lot of assets into him at the trade deadline and will continue to prioritize building around him.

In fact, it should be one of the main tasks at hand for Karnisovas and the Bulls this offseason to build the rest of the roster around the trio of Vooch, Williams, and LaVine. And that’s why landing a point guard that could make a positive impact on the starting unit immediately like Lonzo makes so much sense in Chicago.

The more defensive responsibility that will be taken off the shoulders of Vooch by making up for bad perimeter defending in the paint and the better the primary ball handler is in the starting unit with him, the more effective he will be overall. And that’s exactly what Lonzo brings to the table for this group if he were to land here.

An ideal situation for the Bulls would be to sign Theis to come back on at least another one-year deal this offseason. Have Theis backup Vooch in the frontcourt rotation, and keep the likes of Young, some free agent signing like Green, and one other key piece around to round out this unit in the offseason.
