Chicago Bulls 2021-22 starting five if they traded for Lonzo Ball

Starting Shooting Guard: Zach LaVine

Another easy one to pick for the Bulls is the potential starting shooting guard for the 2021-22 season if the team does sign Lonzo. Donovan and the Bulls would boast one of the more intriguing two-way backcourt pairings in the starting unit if they were able to have both Lonzo and star shooting guard Zach LaVine in the mix.

LaVine proved last season that he is one of the key pieces that this new Bulls core should be building around heading into the 2021-22 campaign and beyond. He got his first career All-Star nod this year, and more should be on the way for him in the coming seasons.

If LaVine continues to improve his play on the defensive end of the floor, then the potential between the backcourt pairing of LaVine and Lonzo could really be a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference. The main flaw that would present itself in this scenario is Lonzo having to make up for any lost matchups by LaVine on defense.

But Lonzo would be much better at picking up the pace for LaVine on the defensive end of the floor than one of his current teammates like White or Sato.

The opportunity for LaVine to have more open looks from three, and someone to dish the ball off to when he gets double teams, would be of tremendous benefit. There aren’t too many potential free agent/trade targets out there for the Bulls to go after this summer that could continue to elevate the game of LaVine quite like Ball.
