Where former members of the Chicago Bulls core are at now?

Kris Dunn, PG

Another member of the Bulls’ former core in recent years that is suiting up for a different team around the NBA now is the defensive standout 6-foot-4 and 205-pound point guard Kris Dunn. When Dunn hit the restricted free agent market last offseason, a lot of Bulls fans (myself included) figured that Karnisovas would bring him back for at least one more year.

An injury that caused Dunn to miss the latter part of the 2019-20 regular season with the Bulls also caused him to miss a good portion of this season with the Hawks. In fact, he only got to play in four games for the Hawks down the stretch this season. The postseason might be the first time that Dunn really gets an opportunity to make an impact with the Hawks.

The five-seed Hawks are set to take on the four-seed New York Knicks and former Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau in the first round of the playoffs.

Bobby Portis, PF

Since this list is pretty much all comprised of the younger Bulls players that were a part of the rebuild after the Jimmy Butler trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves back during the 2017 offseason, another former Razorbacks big man Bobby Portis is mentioned. Portis was the 22nd overall pick from the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft for the Bulls.

GarPax was also the responsible party for drafting Portis. But it was also GarPax that shipped off Portis, along with forward Jabari Parker, to the Wizards two seasons ago for a return of veteran small forward Otto Porter Jr.

Portis has now played for three different teams since getting traded from the Bulls at the 2019 deadline. He played for the Wizards to round out that season. And then he’s spent time with the Knicks and Milwaukee Bucks since. He’s currently playing with the Bucks, as part of the two-seed in the playoffs in the East.
