Players Chicago Bulls Coby White Should Study in the Playoffs: Mike Conley

A more directly relatable situation to White is Mike Conley of the Utah Jazz. The savvy veteran point guard can offer a plethora of wisdom to any young guard in the league and White can get extra benefit because of the relatable situations.

Conley is not the traditional point guard from a play-making standpoint but it still very good at it and capable of doing it for his team. He is still a better scorer of the ball than facilitator for teammates although good in both areas.

Playing alongside Donovan Mitchell is similar to playing alongside Zach LaVine, which is why Coby White should watch Conley very closely. Just because he is not the focal point of the offense does not mean he isn’t a key contributor offensively.

White could see how he plays off of the ball dominant Mitchell and once again, how he picks and chooses his spots throughout the game. Conley is an excellent shooter and great ball movement helps him find great looks.

White could learn a lot about commanding the offense from Conley and even some of his teammates that help run things. How do they get open off ball? Further, how does Conley get Mitchell good looks?

Picking up things like that from Conley’s game will help White learn how to get LaVine the ball in his spots ready and able to attack. There is a balance in needing to create opportunities for him and needing to let him get his own looks.

White can learn a ton about playing next to a great scoring guard by watching Conley throughout these playoffs.
